Well it sure is worth waiting !!

Having tried out a couple, I knew I was after an Am Standard 2012 - 2016, except of course you have to go used for the last couple of years, which means the usual lottery.

    Or do you ?

The marvellous Van Gorp in Holland had one brand new, untouched, SBK case and candy, with full Fender warranty. Been sitting in the back for five years - and it is grrreeeatttt !!!

Delivered with a nice simple set up and restrung with 9s, it plays beautifully straight off the bat.

Here’s the thing - my least favourite Fender colour is sunburst. But often (in the UK) you have to settle for what you can. And guess what - my P-Bass from my playing days thirty years ago is sunburst, my ‘go to’ Jaguar is sunburst, and now; see below !!!

Actually, she is gorgeous - a deep shade that only comes forward in direct light - beautiful.

As for the sound - gritty, chimey, clear,
pushy, and also very trad - phew I could go on and on !

Obviously this is a very normal guitar (with the controversial contour - which I really like - resonance through me bones), so nothing new here - but for moi, it has the perfect neck - c-shape, 9.5, medium jumbo, all pristine.

    Very very happy indeed !

excellent! congrats - sometimes, patience is indeed a virtue. agreed, that version of sunburst is a wonderful variation from the norm.

Well to be honest (and I think there may be another thread on this), I have actually been through three online, searching for a goodie.

Why oh why advertise a guitar on Reverb as mint, charging top whack - when it actually has fret wear, dings etc. From reputable UK dealers too !

So, Van Gorp were a breath of fresh air - helpful, patient and amenable. Only three days from the store in Holland to my home in London. And...reduced from 1850 to 1180 euros - score !!

But most of all, plays like a dream and looks fab...

Something to be said for a nice, stock telecaster straight out of the box, that scratches the itch!
    Congrats!

Congratulations! Beautiful. Enjoy. She will serve you well.

If the contour works for you then that is all that matters.

Now rock that baby because she can ROCK!

PS: I have the same model, but with a rosewood neck. LOVE IT!!!

    Thanks so much !

Was just commenting to Endianless, it actually has a small (7mm) indentation on the front - which has not split the lacquer, so was either pre spray, or a very soft pre sale ding. Fortunately my purchasing benchmark is ‘can you feel it with your fingernail ?’

And in this case you cannot.

I honestly don’t know how the stores keep new guitars swirl free though...

My favorite version of the American Standard/Series/Professional; Congrats on turning up a new one! You never know what could be hiding in a store's stockroom.
