NGD A.V 59 maple board!

I just received this bad boy!

Just the right amount of fingerboard rolling

Look fender! You did it before, this is how a headstock should transition!

Has just enough wear to keep it honest and not make me afraid to play it

It’s got some nice checking I tried to capture but it doesn’t photograph well, there’s checking all over

Beautiful sunburst! Don’t see many of the maple boards, I’ve been itching for a late 50’s strat for a while now, and she’s a first year A.V.

Haven’t plugged er in yet but I’m about to as soon as I’m done posting, I’m ecstatic!

Picked it up on reverb, seller as a private individual was one of the best I’ve dealt with

Any of you guys have one?

Edit: neck is thicker than what I assumed, it’s .83 at the first fret and .98 at the twelfth

Congrats! I think that might be the rarest of the AV series Strats - it seems like you saw many more of the AV '59s with the rosewood fingerboard.

I have an AV '59 Strat with the rosewood board, and I love it. Mine is black, which I don't necessarily care for, but the finish is beautiful and is aging very nicely. Mine is from 2014, I'll attach a pic.

I love the neck and the pickups. Great guitars!

I was close to buying one of these on more than one occasion

I couldn’t get past the aged dots, the ones in your picture don’t look bad, on the examples I played they looked too unnaturally brown

I always thought of the A.V series as walking into a music store in the given year and that’s what you would see, I’m starting to surmise that fenders idea is more like finding an example that’s been hanging in a music store unplayed for X-amount of years

I’d still like to get one of those rosewood boards at some point

Yeah that's definitely the idea, otherwise the mint guards would be closer to white.

I don't think you need a RW '59 reissue if you have that maple beauty above. Maybe you should look for a '65 though, haha.
