Those strats are great. I always thought that my neighbors was just some oddball perfect one off, until I'd played more Tokais from the 80s. They're just really well made guitars that feel good in your hands.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure on the replacement guard. I've swapped 3 pickgaurds, and the 2 WD ones did NOT line up. One was possibly my fault, but I think the screw holes were off. The other totally left a gap of about a quarter inch between the guard and control plate. So I can't reccomend them. Theres always refunds, but when you've changed pickups and switch to match the new color, it's not really feasible.

Does the one that's on it fit right? I know some sites will cut you one from whatever material they offer if you have a template.

thanks for the info....the one on it has one hole off down by the tone knob that’s it but they didn’t redrill it just left it open. I may take it somewhere see if they can make a template.

That’s a hell of a trade. I love CVs, but I believe these Tokais go for like $500, so you did well.

Ive been tempted to pick one of these up sight unseen from all the good stuff I’ve read about them.

I was on a big 80s MIJ kick for a couple years so I totally get it. Great guitars from that region, often great values of that vintage.

I used to have that same model, color, etc. Sorry I ever sold it. The pick guard was originally white and I replaced it with tortoise shell. Had to move a couple of holes.

Tokai makes a better Strat than Fender.

Pickguardian make a guard for my DeArmond Bluesbird.

Tort would look great on that color guitar. That shade of Pearl does too or even Black Pearl would look good.

My number one is a Tokai AST-62. Purchased new in 1988. It's been modded to hell and back, but it was a great guitar to begin with. Good bones.

Pretty much any replacement pickguard will reasonably fit with a bit of coaxing. Mine has had at least 3 different ones on it. You might have to file it a bit or relocate a few screw holes, but I can't imagine an extra unseen hole or two would detract much from the guitar's value....if you're worried about such things.

Can't answer about the pick guard. But! That's a great trade.
