I actually got this one in about a week ago. I bought it off Reverb -- the bad: pickguard screws almost rusted through, one pickup height adjustment screw was missing, the saddles looked like they had been out to sea for a few years with the amount of rust that was on them.

The good: Got the guitar for a good price. It has Brandonwound WRHBs which is a nice upgrade.

I ended up putting a new Oak Grigsby 3-way in, a new Switchcraft input jack, and whoever owned the guitar put in nice CTS 500K pots in. Swapped out rusted screws for new screws. I swapped out the fender rusted saddles with Callaham saddles and the guitar is solid now. It was a fun project and exactly what I hoped it would be. Sounds great through my Deluxe Reverb.

I immediately bonded with this guitar. I had the same guitar, a 1997 MIJ version back in the early 2000s. It was my first Fender guitar and sold it along with my Hot Rod Deluxe to help fund an engagement ring. About 12 years later, I'm reuniting with a MIM version with upgrades and I can't tell a difference. Love the neck - love the HBs, just a sweet sounding and playing guitar.

    Cheers!
