The difference will probably be neck size. Your old 88 is probably a bit slimmer.

No, but the older AVRI 52 guitars had slimmer necks until 1998, I believe.

I got one too - I have another guitar as well, strato something, cant really remember at the moment. I thought it was stinky at first but now it smells like cake, because that how we all choose guitars, right? by smell ;-)
