Not so much reliced as unearthed from a Saxon burial ground.

I wondered about the non-reliced hardware, too. But that stuff gets grimy pretty quickly - certainly in my hands anyway.

Yup works for me, lovely, I love a super heavy relic. Agreed on the hardware front, my keef has from the CS has an aged humbucker, aged control plate, flat head Rusty screws but the bridge looks brand new.

I cannot make up my mind about that. Interesting.

I like the contrast of the body wood grain against the black. I'm happy for you...enjoy!

That's a good question. I don't have an answer, because that kind of expertise isn't where I have any spare time.

But I do have a link to a good number of the early Fender catalogs, and from a 10-minute skim, it looks to me like it was the late 60's for the telecaster to add "Duco" colors to regularly available telecasters. If they did custom ones, well that might be something else. This particular collection has a gap between 1968 and 2004. I don't know why.

Kind of fun to look at the old catalogs: https://guitar-compare.com/catalogs/fender-catalogs/ they come up as .pdf files, so you can save them on your computer...

A little much for me personally, but I'm sure it's a great guitar.

OP, you gonna do the pickup swap that you do with all your guitars?

Yes. It's already been gutted and had Bardens put in. I pick it up on Saturday.

Duncan Seth Lover SH-55 and the bridge is a Crushed Blackguard. They have already been replaced with Bardens though.

Relicing is just pretending a guitar has been played a LOT for a long time, right?

I don’t see why we can’t agree to pretend something happened to necessitate a new bridge and pickguard. Maybe somebody shot them or they got damaged when you hit a guy in the head with the guitar “many years ago.”
    Looks cool to me.

Again like I have stated already, both the bridge and guard are relic'd it doesn't show up in photos.

It doesn't even show up in the original listing either:

Is it me? I just don't get why anyone would buy a relic guitar. I have a Custom Shop NOS '51 Nocaster. To have it reliced would cost $400 more. I plan on keeping my Tele a long time. I'll put my own dents and scratches on it, thanks.

I think a lot of people feel the same way as you. I like relics because I have a small child. I used to get really uptight with my daughter around my old Silver Falcon. My CS Caballo though, no problem. She drew on it with a ball point pen. It took me a while to find it.
