Late last year I bought a 2015 CS 63 Telecaster online ("new" from a store), but ended up returning it as it didn't live up to my expectations. the shop was great and returned my money, but I was still a bit cut about the guitar. Buying a Custom Shop Telecaster was a dream for me, and to end up being disappointed in the quality of the guitar? That sucked. I was put off the idea for a bit, but recently it got back in my head.

I was back on that shops website having a second look at a 2014 Firemist Silver CS 59 Telecaster (also "new") that I had in fact considered when I bought the 63, but I passed on it because of the higher price and concerns about the neck profile (steep taper - thin at 1st fret, thick at 12th). I caved the other week and gave them a call asking about the best price they could do, and to get a couple of photos to confirm the colour as metallics can be hard to photo right. The price was MUCH better, and the colour was also more to my liking in the new photos. I decided to go for it, paid the money, and waited for it to arrive.

A couple of days later it arrived, and luckily for me, this one was a gem! When I first opened the case, I immediately noticed the rosewood on the fretboard was nicer than on the 63. The colour of the guitar was beautiful, and the Journeyman relic was much more subtle and tastefully done. OK, but how does it play? The moment of truth! Unlike the 63, which if I am honest really didn't feel good from the get go, this 59 felt like the Custom Shop guitar I was expecting the first time around. Light, resonant, lively, easy to play, and actually feeling like it was worth the price tag! The "59 Esquire C" neck is also very comfortable in hand, so nothing to worry about there despite my initial hesitation. It is also nicely flamed and worn in.

This one is a keeper for sure an I am very happy about it [IMG]

Very nice! Gotta love a slab board Tele...

...but now I want that double-bound Aztec Gold that snuck into the photos.

That silver looks awesome. Guess I've got another on the to-get list...

Congrats, that is a beautiful guitar.
