Just picked this up, I'm delighted with it - it's my first American Standard Telecaster. The owner is retired and a bit of collector and has decided to sell a few. I got really lucky with this as it's totally mint. It's never been gigged, in fact he said it's only been out of it's case a couple of times.

I've got an American Special which I love, but this has a good chance of replacing it as number 1! My other electric was an American Standard Strat - white with a maple board. But because I'm such a Tele guy it never got played, every time a jam or gig came, I just felt more confident grabbing the Tele. So I sold the Strat a couple of weeks ago and I thought, what will I get as another option? And I just came to the conclusion that I just love Teles! I did think is 2 Teles redundant? Should I have a Tele and a Les Paul? A Tele and a Jazzmaster etc...but in the end I decided, no let's just have another Tele!

My American Special is Vintage Blonde with maple, so I wanted something that was quite different, so sunburst and rosewood...love the look!

Does anyone have specs for the 2010 Standards? I'm just curious. Is it alder? Ash? Either way, I'm happy!

That's very nice my friend has the same with a maple board. I really like it. He won't sell it to me although it just lives in it's case.

I have a 2011 American Standard (RW and metallic red) and it is just excellent. Work it in and watch it go.

that's a fine, fine looking guitar. Over the years, I've kind of gotten worn out by the sunburst, but that there is one fine version. Congrats!

Here's a list of the 2010-2011 specs I found from a review online - so online data, but looks about right, done in the typical fender list format:

The Fender American Standard Tele has been reworked and refined over the years to address what the working player wanted as far as features go. In 2008 Fender updated them to have a lot of changes that were great for the working musician, and they're reflected here (the model I'm reviewing is an off the rack 2011).
