    Hey everyone,

Just received this bad boy via UPS. It's a used (mint) 2007 SG Special in Heritage Cherry. I paid a bit more for the glossy finish 'cause I couldn't find a faded model that I liked. Came with a Gibson hardshell case too. Plugged it in and everything works as it's supposed to. I'll be jamming for a long time tonight!

Congrats! There's nothing like a good SG. They are incredible guitars.

I'm feeling the early signs of GAS for an SG. No idea what I ate, it is just building and I can't ignore it anymore.

Awesome! I just joined The SG Party two weeks ago with a 2018 Epiphone SG Pro
After 45 years of playing guitar!

Truth is, I was happy ( love playing music with our little Trio, AND the new SG)

But it was hot, sun in my face- I think I'm 'smile-squinting' there, and saying under my breath " Take the f***ing picture!!"

Congrats on joining the SG family!!! I have an 06 matte/faded cherry SG Special. I believe they are the 490R/498T pickups. They sound really good through my little Vox amps. Better than they should, given the "love" they get on the internet. I am not normally an SG guy, but this guitar and I get along quite well. Had it for over a year and I'm still pretty much in the honeymoon phase (after a new nut and a setup, of course).

I'm not sure why those pickups get the hate they do. My SG is my best sounding guitar, and I recently put the same pickups in my Les Paul Custom and it sounds much better than it ever has. I suspect maybe the disappoited folks are metal guys who want an SG to sound like an Ibanez, whereas the stock pickups are more vintage sounding.

On this site, it says the '07 had 490R and 490T. I had the same set in my LP Studio and they seemed a bit dark and muddy then and I never was completely happy with them, but they sound great in my new SG.

I'm thinking you've gotta adjust the height just right to get them to sound good.

Hey, if you're into SG Specials here's a site I found that tells you the specs through the years:

Funnily, I know the exact moment when I developed GAS for an SG with P90s and a trem: it's 1:49 into this song, which was part of a documentary about Wilco that I saw years ago.

My buddies and I are Epiphone budget, but 3 of us just bought Epi SG's last month!

I got the 1966 SG 400 Pro, a lefty buddy of mine got a used lefty SG 400 Pro ( both of these w/coil taps), and he bought his brother this, a new Epi SG Special below!

    * This all started when a collector buddy of mine bought a Gibson '62 or '61 SG RI- I fell in live with playing it ( thru a '68 Super Reverb!) and thought, " I'm getting an SG as soon as I get the $$!" The time has come!
