I had a 1952 Telecaster and the original case was the same as this one, down the centre.

    Hi.

    Wow, really nice.

I see you are in Melbourne. I have family there and hope to visit next July or August. Hoping to catch some bands while I'm there. I hear there are one or two...

I believe the original 52 telecaster case was the poodle case.

the neck is a delight to play. (its hard to photograph, more attempts below, sorry!) yes, a good sized handful but not clubby. there is a very subtle feel of a V, which I love, and a lovely hand carved feel as it rounds up to the fingerboard. hmm, hard to describe. I try to get some better pics. I love the 67 years of honest wear on the neck.. feels so played in. I think this goes for the sound too.

as for the sound. wow. three equally nice settings, but if I had to choose, I'd take the clear woody, warmth of the neck pup. But I'm glad I don't have to choose. middle and bridge, both also very beguiling.
actually, the most striking thing to the tone is the responsiveness & woody warmth, even though it has the tele crispness. anyway, not a lot of point talking about tone. I will knock out a demo at the studio sometime soon!

interesting... I guess it's possible that Fender was experimenting? Are you sure it was the 'original' case. I have a feeling this is more like a brown '54 case?
It should be a thermometer in '52? I don't care, the case is nice, in great shape, but doesn't change the sound of the guitar much!
I suppose I should get something modern to protect her anyway.

what sort of music are you into, I'll send some recommendations!
Yes, there is a good live music scene here - nothing compared to back in the day, when every pub on every corner, {and we have a few!}, on many nights of the week had live bands.

Hey Rudy, beautiful! Is your control plate and Neck pup cover original? Like mine, the chrome plating seems to have really stood the test of time.

I don't have an ashtray cover.... oh well. those things are useless anyway! lol, here's a pic with a modern cover on.

Thanks. I'm into pretty much anything that's done well. Kinda. I saw The Dirty Three years ago, and that was great, really great. I'd like to see Courtney Barnett one day. I also like some of the songs by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, who I've recently discovered.

I have some relatives who are plugged into the local music scene a little, and I'll probably just wing it once I get there. My main concern will be finding time, as the whole family will be coming.
