Hi folks.

Just starting to overcome my beloved dog’s death. So I hope this’ll keep me somewhat distracted from the great sorrow.

It’s a brand new Gibson Les Paul Classic TC, which will hopefully and eventually transform to George Harrison’s ”Lucy” lookalike, or somewhere in that direction anyways.

The trussrod cover should be changed to correct ”custom”. And the headstock’s Les Paul prints should be removed. Should I just put some black electrician’s tape on top of it?

Those zebras are already on their way out, replacement is Lollar Imperial Aged set.

I’m quite nervous about changing pickups (and maybe pots, off with coil split etc), I’ve only worked with Teles and Strats until now. Well, the internet is full of wiring schematics, so I guess it’ll go eventually ok.

That's awesome, Lollars... you're doing it right I see. Please post pictures when it's done. Are you also going to grow out your hair and rock a killer mustache? Or maybe that's already your look? Might as well go 100%.

Love the look! That truss rod cover is just a classic, pun intended.

I had a Lucy knock-off custom made by some shop in China.

It's not really a two piece top, it's just darker stain, but on stage it looks pretty damn cool.

I did my own headstock decal, in my name, I've made it very clear that is not a real Gibson.

I know it's not supposed to have the Les Paul decal, but my band had a little inside joke going, so there it is.

Whether or not you put the poker chip on depends on what part of Lucy's life you want to emulate. Presently, Lucy has it on.

Waiting for local electronics store to open, then it’s assembling time.

Sold that crappy PCB, pickups, switch and jack for 150€. Was the price too low or steep? I reckon it’s not the latter, because first inquiery came about 5 mins after posting the ad.

I wouldn’t have done nothing with them, so basically free money for me and a happy customer ;)

An update. All the electronics are replaced: Lollar imperial pickups, CTS pots, Switchcraft switch and jack, braided wire and classic 50s wiring. New knobs. What’s still missing: truss rod cover (”CUSTOM” vertically) is coming from Philadelphia by mail, and potentiometer pointers are on their way also.

Current situation:

Does anyone have an idea how to get rid of headstock’s Les Paul text without totally ruining the finish? I once saw those Les Pauloooooo (Les Paul 100) texts removed and it looked as hidious as the text itself.
