Got this thing today - I’m blown away! The specs ticked the boxes vs my other Tele (‘61 Custom).

Classic Blackguard. Love the checking and the .90 - .99 '54 U is my favorite neck. A guitar after my own heart! Congrats and enjoy!

I guess you don't have to be too careful with it.

Yep, and thats what I personally like about the relics. I have a journeyman that's not quite that relic'd, but it's worn enough that I just don't think about it getting nicked or whatever, not like my NOS, which I baby a lot more. That first ding hurts when it's by itself... :)

Delightfully nasty! Most of the old Teles I've seen in the wild had jumbo re-frets too by mid 70s [that I've seen.] ;)

This has an ash body and is surprisingly light. Teles always “looked” heavy to me. This was a revelation.

And the ‘51 “loaded” nocaster pickups absolutely RIP! 🤘

Yeah, he'll want to... I've wanted a tuxedo Tele forever, but never seem find one...
I wanted a tuxedo with a bound body and I figured I could build one, but even trying to find a non relic, was tough. I found one but the binding was so bad, it was visible with the tiny online picture of it. I considered a Texas tea, but it's got a modern bridge and noiseless pickups. Schecter has a pt special with a black bound body and a rosewood board, p90 in the neck which sounded cool, but apparently it's not a very good one. The search continues. Fenders gotta offer one sooner or later
The black Custom is super checked but the traveler specified “no dings” sadly. 😂
I can hang with checking, it's just the severe stuff. I have a 25 year old strat that I gigged full time for 21 years and other than a couple fret jobs it's pristine. Hence the relic snowberry, if that's a word.😂It has new saddles because our drummer barfed and it splashed on to the bridge. Everything cleaned o.k. except the saddles corroded.
