I am building this Telecaster, MJT body, (I won on eBay by accident) real maple American neck, other parts are arriving daily.

I got so excited after a really good friend gave me this neck, that I had to string it up!!!

    Who needs pickups?

That's awesome! You won that by accident? I'd like to win that body by accident. How does one do that? Please advise.

Umm, I bid and I thought I would get outbid for sure.

I should have explained that. My old friend contributed the neck, so the build continues.

I've been strumming it like this and setting up the action as I wait for pickups and the pick guard I have coming.

I like it a lot. I tend to use the word "assemble" rather than "build" for partscasters.

Still assembling, I need to source some better pickups, these that came with the pick guard are cheesy.

I'm on the hunt, but I did get to this point:

I kinda like it without the pickguard. A bespoke control panel and a small cabronita style pickguard... but that's just me. It's gonna look great whatever you do.

Not to be accusatory......but why did you bid thinking you would be "outbid for sure"? Were you just "bidding up" the price for fun? :) .......or, were you just hoping for a bargain? (I'm trying to give you a lifeline here)

I for sure wanted it, but I thought it would go higher and I left it.

Then I found out I won it and I was stoked.

Finished the build, I used Custom shop Texas specials......

Sounds great, my tech did the fret job and neck alignment/shim.

Same here. I do both & therefore apriciate when the difference is acknowledged. Either way can create a fantastic instrument but if no wood was cut/routed.................

Although I guess "assembled" has an Ikea feel to it & that's not quite right either.
