I just got my first single coil guitar. I purchased a G&L Tribute ASAT Special.

It feels very good after I raised the action and gave some relief to remove some minor fret buzz (mainly E and A strings). The guitar feels very good out of the box. I am not familiar with how to change the sounds/tones it makes yet.

The neck feels pretty good. I don't have to do anything to it. Most of my mod plans have gone out the window because I find the guitar comfortable in a seated position. Don't think I need a forearm or belly cut.

I haven't had time to mod, but I'm planning to install the following:
    Hipshot Directrofit staggered locking tuners
    Dunlop strap lock buttons
    D'Addario Chromes (0.010) Flatwound strings.

Coming from bass, I like flats.

    Lovely axe!!!!

I fitted G&L locking tuners to my tribute ASAT Special. Had to drill a small extra hole, really pretty straight forward. On the G&L web site directly, I found them quite competitive in price, and I like that they are branded G&L on the back...... :)

The ASAT Special (Tribute or not) really is such an ace guitar. The pick ups are great, and that saddle lock bridge unit is a fantastic piece of design. Really comfy to play for those moments when you rest your hand on the bridge.

I have much much more expensive guitars being severely neglected because of it.

Beautiful guitar! Congrats! I bought two G&L ASAT Tribute guitars this past year. They are truly two of the finest playing and sounding Tele-types I own. The build quality is great on these.

Does it have a sparkle in the finish, or is it just the picture?

No sparkle, but I am still tempted to repaint the thing purple metallic.

Love that color. My band mate has the USA ASAT Special in the same (or similar) color. I love how it sounds--wish it was mine. Enjoy!
