    New Free Bass Day

I work in construction and have been working on a project for a homeowner who is preparing their house for sale so they can move out of state.

This afternoon, I noticed that a Fender gig bag that obviously had something inside of it was leaning up against a kitchen cabinet near the back door, so I asked the owner "hey what's in there?" He replied "that's for you, I set it aside for you because I heard you talking about playing to one of the other guys last time you were here".

Short story shorter the guy's son never played it and didn't want it, so he thought he would generously pass it on to me.

It's "just" a Squier Affinity J-Bass, but a very nice and welcomed gesture. I have never had any sort of J-style bass before so it was great to get something different than what I'm used to. Gave it a few adjustments and it plays pretty nice and sounds decent, will definitely enjoy messing around with it, it's a 2008 and not a mark on it.

Nice! Good for you! The only bass I have is a Squier Affinity J-Bass as well and for what it is it plays very well. Congratulations!

Nothing like an unexpected guitar gift! Cool dog, too. I think he/she approves.

It often sucks to works in other people's homes. But it can be very gratifying when all the stars align.

I've been reading too many posts in the amp forum, I thought it was Negative FeedBack Day, nice bass, especially at that price!

Throw some new pickups and electronics in there and you’ve got a killer bass. Stock pickups are more often than not, just place holders.

Is it black or that dark purple color that only shows when the light hits it?

Nice to hear. Maybe even better is how you acquired it. I've worked in other people's homes too and at times the customer's attitude toward me/other workers could be pretty crappy. The nice one's definitely stand out. It's also a real nice compliment to you as a person and a professional. Congrats, that says a lot.:)
