Take on a project.

Turn this guitar, for which I paid $293AU (RRP $429AU)...

... into this guitar, which I am naming the TS68NL.

It will certainly cost more than a new guitar, it won't sound the same as the guitar I'm emulating, I can't guarantee if the wood underneath the paint will look like that even if I can begin to remove it (poly finish, I'm going to have a hell of a time), and I'll never be able to resell it (like that was ever a consideration given how I received the guitar in the first place).

But I will have something nobody else will or I will have ruined something I would be just as pleased keeping the way it is now.

HERE'S TO A NEW 2023!

Why make it difficult? Mine
Never eat green beans
Don't buy Rolls-Royce
Don't walk on thin ice
Don't try to surf the river when they open the spillway at the dam
Don't try to jump the hitching rail on my pogo stick
All of them things I've thought about (except eating green beans yuk )

I think I may start trying to in general swap out fruit and oatmeal for my normal eggs/toast/meat/hashbrowns breakfast
That one will have to wait til tomorrow though. This morning's bacon was delicious

I find it generally easier to "add" something than subtract something.
I mean like, adding an exercise regimen, adding a health supplement, adding a positive habit, all seem easier than subtracting from my normal behavior.
and sometimes even psychologically, i can sort of trick myself

Like, maybe rather than think of eating less I can think of "adding" intermittent fasting to my habits
I can relate to that add something vs subtract something idea.
I had to use that sort of thing to get off booze and drugs, so many lost fun things or treats, and the massive increase in cravings or desires.

Then a few years ago when my pants stopped fitting, taking away late in the day carbs and big servings of carbs, carb snacks etc.

A thing I decided to ADD, in my thinking and behavior, was a resolve to not be a prisoner of my emotions.
So I "added" a decision to create a resistance or revolutionary armed force in myself to combat the really basically weaker force that is emotional need for comfort eating.

Not really any different from going to the gym to build muscle, going to school to build employment skills, or going to a money manager to build retirement savings or an ability to spend within our means.

Any of those things take away free time and fun stuff, but give back in the long run, give us back some power.
If we did everything based on emotional urges, we would probably be jobless and homeless!

The reminder system or idiot light on my dash board is my $50 Carhartt pants.
Not buying bigger than 32-34 so better ease up when they get too tight! Holiday challenege for sure...

If it comes down to gotta eat something when caught in the grips of an emotional urge?
Like you mentioned about breakfast ideas; keep some fruits around for sudden urges, maybe a favorite salad dressing and salad makings in the fridge.
Tangy fun eating can easily be stuff that has no carbs or sugar yet is very gratifying!
Got grapefruits and the pears ae pretty good now.
Adding fun snacks but more key I think is adding a martial arts thinking that resists emotional urges.

I am completely in control of what I buy at the grocery store to have available here.
So I make sure that is mostly healthful, nutritional stuff
For example- mixed nuts make a delicious and healthful snack
(as long as it's a handful, not the canful)

when this is your normal routine, you can enjoy that pizza or lasagna once in awhile with no worries

I leave my new years resolutions for the week after when it's my birthday.
There's a few good reasons for that. They become MY resolutions, life around me has gone back to routines with work, school. businesses etc and I give myself a week to think a bit deeper around what I need to change, as well as accept the things I can't.

Seriously (selfishly) -

- Continue with the healthy eating adding waaaay more vegetables/simple foods

- Get the 20 mile bike ride down to a consistent 65 to 70 min - max.

- Martin or Gibson flattop (far less important)

- Volunteer somewhere ? 😐🤔

Mixed nuts and preserving what dental health I have sadly do not mix…
