Develop a better finger vibrato
Work up some boogie woogie technique on piano
Read more
Get some camping in
Develop better slide technique
Develop some amount of facility on stand-up bass
Spend more time outside- my goal is an avg 2 hours/day, and that seems reasonable/attainable
Keep hitting the gym- goal is 3X weekly
Liquidate some guitars and some amps and some pedals
Make better use of my more than ample living space
Consolidate my various 401(K)/pension plans
develop fuller-sounding versions of most of my original songs
acquire dedicated recording laptop
Learn to program some drumtracks
A whole bunch of guitar maintenance stuff I won't bore you with
Get some gigs on the books for my offbeat 80s indie hits cover band
Maybe reform my band The Blowtorches. Maybe.
Enjoy every gig
i hope not to buy more music stuff as I already have 8 of everything
continue to be ultra-awesome

and of course- bagpipes!

what's your plan of action?

I don't do "resolutions," but there is lots to like in yours!

Why a laptop instead of a desktop though? I use a laptop only for travel. I cannot stand a laptop for serious work...I get it that it could be personal preference, but I love two monitors, wireless keyboard and mouse, and more power for less money.

I do all that with a laptop, I could never use the built in keyboard or mouse and I plug my own monitors in. and I generally only spend $100
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

as to not doing "resolutions"- it's just a time to reflect on some things that could use improvement and focus on some goals, for a lot of us

Hmmm.

Keep up thé no alcohol thing
Cook more
Be more active
Help my father and sisters more in the care of my ailing - but for now improving - mother
Play more guitar
New computer and recording software. And use it.
Which also means writing more to record
Maybeget serious about learning to fingerpick. I suck at it.
Same re slide
Possibly add another acoustic

No bagpipes

Cheers,
Geoff

I haven’t thought about it much, but I just want to do my new job well, make a difference in people’s lives. Lose weight, lift weights, get in better shape before I croak. I haven’t had much spare time in the last couple of months, but I’d like to spend more time working around the house and yard. Haven’t been to the range in a long time. I’d like to spend more time with my Dad and some other family members. The last few years really sucked in a lot of ways, but I held out for the light at the end of the tunnel. I switched careers, new town, new house, death of friends and family, but my Wife is awesome.

I've begun to speak locally about goal setting, and why it often fails. The biggest disconnect is that we tend to set our goals based on our recent results, rather than freeing ourselves to start with a "clean sheet of paper". That "clean sheet of paper" means that we have to temporarily ignore our recent results, and instead find a *vision* for our lives. What do we *really* want to become? THAT is what will drive us to make changes in our lives. We need to focus on "becoming", and then ask the follow-up question:

"What would THAT person do today?".

Ironic, isn't it
Same as every year: to be kinder to others and myself than I was the year prior.
I was going to say something about how kindness is best balanced with strength, but upon thinking on it, that's redundant. True kindness is indeed strength

Ran into an old friend at the post office yesterday.
He plays bagpipes, mostly funerals.
Hadn't heard amazing grace in town for the last year or so, turns, out he was in an alcohol rehab.
Met him at an AA meeting tonight, buncha grays there.
His resolutions seems to be stay off the booze and quit smoking.

Mine?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

(laugh more)

True strength is the ability to do harm...but to choose not to.

None, and I never have, I don't understand the point, I've pretty much had the same personality and goals for the las 40 some years.

I will always help someone if I can.
