You like ad hominems.
Your screen name is perfect for you.
Schtick (routine, as in acting, or "act") or not, he always manages to be charming and (yes, I said it)) fairly wise.
Besides, a "schtick" in music? Everyone has one to some degree. As the great Kinky Friedman famously said, "The most important thing in this business is sincerity... Once you can fake that you've got it handled."
(Or words to that effect...)
Alright boys, let's bring in the sea sick steve character.
No let's say tom is alright, steve is alright, if you want to believe those stories, maybe you re right. I need to believe.
quit your fooling around now
I'll be honest, Tom Waits has released 16 albums in a row ( 1973 to 1999 ) that are one better than the other, the rest from 2000 up to now are not bad at all, to me of course.
This is a thing that not every musician can do, so i'll never thank him enough for that and for the great music that he released.
I enjoed this interview, if he is acting or not i don't care at all, who doesn't in the music biz anyway ?
I'll remember him for his music not for the interview.
I feel like Waits always lets the persona get in the way of the music. He's made some good and interesting music but it's always shrouded in this phony hobo/can o'beans/down and out skid row guy thing.
