About a week ago a saw a used Vox AC 30 CC head on the GC site for a good price. I've been waiting for the Hayseed but I figured I'd grab the Vox. I never owned an AC30 because back in the 60s my friends who owned them had them in the repair shop too often. Diehard BF Fender guy. The Vox sounds great. I have a Bad Cat Trem Cat 30 that I love and thought the AC 30 was close.I got the Hayseed yesterday and I plugged it into my 2X12 cab with Blues. Holy S...! This is one incredible tone machine. Extremely pedal friendly. I can't even begin to describe how orgasmic it sounds.

I've heard good things about Rob's amps. That's great that you tried it through Celestion Blues; I am guessing that it produced a classic/original/60s VOX tone.

Here she is. Why are guitars and amps always "She?" Never mind.

Very nice on both accounts. Congrats. But don't the two (2) sound very much alike?

Quite a bit. The Hayseed just has so much more presence? Don't know how to describe it. I hope other Hayseed owners will pipe in and be a little more articulate.

Hmm. Maybe the difference is the tubes you are using?

Could possibly be. Both EL84 amps. Maybe handwired with better components vs. Chinese mass produced? I'll check them out tomorrow. I'm not saying anything bad about the AC 30. There's just something sweeter sounding with the Valvetech. C'mon Hayseed owners!

Ha. I had a Hayseed 30 head and a cab with 2x12 Alnico Blues. Yeow! I'm not much on adjectives, but I will say it sounded so good I wanted to go back and re-record everything I'd ever played. CS

You don't have it anymore? Did you sell it to buy something else?

No, I loved it, but other Life Stuff got in the way. I'll get another one someday. It's really a killer amp. CS

Life stuff can be trying. I sold my '54 Tele to buy my future wife a diamond engagement ring and my handmade in Ireland Lowden acoustic to pay for my divorce. Life goes on.
