Hello, my name is George Gritzbach, I'm a Blues/Roots player based in MA. New to the site, I have two Teles, one is an original 1966-1967, serial #159198, she is well worn with belt buckle rub on back. Tuners and pick-up switch are not original, she currently has Texas pick-ups, I have the original pick-ups.
I am currently working on a new CD project and looking to sell her to raise capital for the CD project. Hoping to establish what a fair asking price would be. Would appreciate any assistance in this endeavor, all the best, George

Not really. He's not offering it for sale, yet. Just inquiring for opinions on value.

Good news you have the original pickups.

Were new holes drilled for the tuners? If so, you've impacted value. How much? By hundreds or potentially thousands.

A minty 66 Tele with case and hangtags and any documentation of sale would be worth five figures if the sale is handled properly.

It would be good if you can round up a set - original F-tuners, switch and any other bits like pots - they are around.

If they're all refitted and you have a Tele with minimal player wear in a case it could be 5, 6, 7 thousand dollars. It's worth rounding up an old school tech who solders with the old resin-core stuff.

With aftermarket parts fitted and depending on wear, half that.

Reverbs a guide only - but ballpark.

There's a refin 67 body and neck routed on eBay for $2700.

Lesser known bands put out CDs rather than LPs.

Fender started putting "F" Bigsby units on some Teles at the factory at that time. Does this one have a Bigsby?

I, too, will look forward to pics.

But more importantly, the details identified by other forum members about the "tells" of a genuine vs fake.

When one of those posts goes up, I'm rarely able to notice the detail that confirms it was made in Kevin's basement in 2016, rather than on Leo's assembly-line in 1962.

    Peace - Deeve
