I posted this earlier over on the MLP forum but I really like this guitar ... I Really wasn't in the market for another guitar but I had been wanting a Sherwood Green Strat for a long time but simply refused to pay the price for an AVRI 59. So then a couple of weeks ago I saw this American Special Telecaster on Sweetwater's page and could not resist. So far there is nothing about it that I don't like. The neck is incredible; frets seem near perfect and I even like the Texas Special pups. Although I did install locking tuners just because I hate changing strings without them. Weighs just over 8 pounds.
    The standard Sweetwater images...

BTW Squier has a 50's Sherwood Green strat... it's a classic vibe and they are fairly nice ($399 new). I have a 50's and 60's CV strats and both are very fine in their own right. If another one came out in a color I loved, I'd pick it up. I gig with Squer's all the time and never a problem.

I do have some fine American Fenders and I still love me some sweet Squier vibe!

Cool color! I was really into the idea of a Seafoam Green strat and stumbled onto a Tele in that color at a pawnshop.

I want one too. I modded my first American Special beyond recognition and I wish I hadn't. Those 8 pounds are a bit off putting as I get older but I guess I will go for it. I love those Texas Specials and I changed them out for Fralin Blues Specials. I figured if a little blues sound is good, more must be better. It took me a while after many change-outs, that Fender pickups are fine. Fralins are OK but hard to get a balance between them.

That guitar is so cool. The rosewood is really nice; dark enough to provide the right contrast to the green.

5 posts in six years? You sure waited for the right moment to get our attention!

And, thank you for your service! :^)
