I bought a used Fender Vintera ‘60’s Telecaster on Reverb. The seller bought it new in February of 2020 from Sweetwater. It was delivered yesterday. It looks like he never played it. I put a new set of strings on it and immediately noticed the action was high at the nut on every string but the high E. It was bad enough that the F barre chord at the first fret sound like my phaser was on. I broke out my nut files and fixed the issue.[IMG] Afterwards I had to tweak the intonation a bit. Unfortunately, it ate up my playing time. I only got to play it for 15 minutes. I really like it and I’m looking forward to playing it more tonight.

    Nice guitar. Congrats.
Since you filed the nut, you'll probably need to re-intonate...

Congrats! Nice color. What's on the fretboard? Pao Ferro? Looks amazing, very interesting grain, it really suit the blue.

    Sweet!

I've found the nuts well cut on the good number of Fender USA and MIM necks I have. But the dressing of the fret ends, particularly with some Fender USA necks, can be surprisingly poor. It seems they may tend to dress fret ends a little better in Ensenada than they do in Corona. Weird, I know.

...if you'll re-read the OP - at the very bottom - you'll find out he not only has good taste in guitars, he's also got mad future telepathy skills - he knew you were going to suggest that...

    Bold looking Tele - congrats.
And an extra pat on the back for diagnosing and resolving the intonation on your own.
    Peace - Deeve

Wow. In looking at that picture I thought that was new. The previous owner must have really ignored or disliked that thing. Bad takeaway from this post is that the "retailer" did not check the nut setup ...

Lake Placid blue. That guitar is almost a dead ringer for an American Special, but with a (pleasing) tint on the neck.
