Had a bunch of Strats and never really bonded with one. My favorite is a Player Series I got about 2 years ago. Bought it because I loved the color. Yes, that's why, It is the Buttercream with Pau Ferro fretboard. Found one with a nice dark fretboard. That color combination only came in the HSH configuration. So, I enjoyed the guitar but with only getting a Strat sound in 2 positions, It really never felt like a Strat to me. It sounded great for certain situations.

So, last week, I see that I can buy a Fender loaded pickguard with TexMex pickups. I think what the heck, for $150 it will be like a new Strat, and I can easily put it back to original condition since putting on a loaded pickguard only requires soldering 3 wires. Got it a few days ago, easy job, great product with nice Pots, switch and TexMex pickups.

Man, I'm loving this thing, been calling it the Spicy Taco. It smokes.
