Well....I finally came up with a new phrase to flesh out into a coherent song.
The moral of the song as I quote myself: "If you can't take an honest answer....don't ask for anyone's opinion."
This was an easy write comparatively because I have a strong opinion about it.....obviously, by now. :)

I enjoyed working with Ken again and I thank him sincerely for his time and stellar musicianship.
So....on that note....thanks to anyone to gives it a spin and hope you found it worthy of your time.
If not....I owe you 3:28. :)
Have a great day!

Straight Shooter (Key C - 135 bpm - 3:26 - Tuesday 040423 18:00)

Intro:
G F Em7 Dm7 2X - then C
Straight shooter 2X
Verse 1:
I might tell you what you don’t want to hear. If you don’t want the truth don’t’ be bending my ear. If you want my opinion I’ll provide it for free. I call it as I see it so you might take a seat.
Verse 2:
If you want a solid answer well then I aim to please. I won’t be pulling punches. That’s my guarantee. I You can take it or leave it, whatever you choose. I’m just a straight shooter….being honest with you.
Chorus:
I'm a straight shooter….and fire from the hip. I’m fully loaded with my honesty clip. Straight shooter….and mean what I say, with no emotions to get in the way.
Verse 3:
If you’re looking for a yes man, it’s not my style. I’ll tell it like it is and I won’t be shy. Think what you like and believe that I’m cruel. I do you no favors by skirting the truth.
Chorus:
Straight shooter….and fire from the hip. I’m fully loaded with my honesty clip. Straight shooter….and mean what I say, with no emotions to get in the way.
Lead: verse/chorus music
Intro: G F Em7 Dm7 2X - then C
Verse 4:
I might tell you what you don’t want to hear. If you don’t want the truth don’t’ be bending my ear. You can take it or leave it, whatever you choose. I’m just a straight shooter….being honest with you.
Chorus: Straight shooter….and fire from the hip. I’m fully loaded with my honesty clip. Straight shooter….and mean what I say, with no emotions to get in the way.
Outro: G F Em7 Dm7 2X - then C (105-114) I’m a straight shooter 2X

Top of the mornin' everyone.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner....I didn't expect to see any responses once it goes to page 2.

drewg....
Yeah....when the topic reared it's head in my pea brain I figured I could flesh this out lyrically.
I even culled one verse thinking I may come across as too....oh....smug. :)

johnnyk....
Thanks for giving us a listen and chiming in.

NWinther.....
That's a generous comparison.....much appreciated.

Pokey Tele....
Also....very kind comparisons from my POV.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to listen and comment favorably.

Have a great day....

Heh heh. True words.

Played a gig that some people I knew came to. One was a poet, poetry professor, and notorious wisecracker. He went up to another guy there, a prominent local psychiatrist, and said, "Diagnose me!"

The shrink didn't miss a beat. He said, "Narcissist paranoiac with passive-aggressive tendencies."

Next night, I happened to get seated at a restaurant table next to the poet and his companion, who were also eating there. He was what Kinky Friedman calls "highly agitato," and she was stifling a smirk.

He recognized me and said he was furious at how "unprofessionally" the shrink had treated him.

I said, "If you don't want to know when you'll die, don't ask a fortune teller to tell you."

He didn't appreciate my wisdom, but it got a laugh-out-loud from her.

Ha...

Boo hoo....the guy needs thicker skin.
The outside world couldn't care less about anyone's frail sensitivities.
If you don't want an honest answer don't ask the question.

The truth can be an unpleasant....oh....'truth'.

Thanks for commenting....

This reminds me that I wrote a song a long time ago about the singer's experiences with a couple of fortune tellers.

I should dust it off. Thanks!
