anybody heard Sheryl's new release 100 Miles From Memphis? the reviews look real good...has a real Atlantic/Stax/early Motown vibe, they say. Keith Richards plays on one of the tracks

Nice pose, she grew up about 100 miles north of Mempho.

    It's a nice record!
Not what I was expecting from her but Soul/R&B is selling a lot these days, wich is very good.

I am a big fan. I will be picking this one up in a couple of days. Does anyone know if Pete Stround plays on her studio stuff? I love his playing in her live band ( his amps aren't too shabby either ).

He's on the credits of the C'mon C'mon record only.

This latest record has Doyle Bramhall II and Keff on guitars!

I've given it a quick listen. It's well produced as one would expect from an A list artists. I don't know if it's going to grab me yet though...

I think she's a very competent professional musician.

I'd go as far to say that she knows her limitations and works well within them.

I'd go as far to say she is an amazing artist whose reputation is harmed amongst the likes of us due to her occasional trips to the light side.

"The Globe Sessions" is one of the greatest records I own...and I own a LOT of records. It floored me in 1998, totally unexpectedly; and it continues to be an extremely rewarding listen.

I've had a listen to the album ('er indoors bought it) and it's not bad. Not "Sheryl Crow" good, not "Globe Sessions" good, but not bad.

    Agreed.

My comment was meant to stand alongside yours, actually, not counter it.
