It was time to get some new kicking around runners, not sports playing shoes, as I was down to either my walking shoes or more business-type shoes. I decided to buy some that brought a nostalgic feel to my life. I wore the black ones (and white ones) all the time when I was a kid 'cus that's all we had to wear. They were the only running shoes available. So I bought a black pair of high tops. Pure nostalgia! Then, because they had a buy 1 get one at 50% off sale on, I decided to get something that didn't exist when I was a kid, so I was getting' kinda edgy. I wanted green ones, but the didn't have them in my size, so I got red. N-i-i-i-c-e! Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars. For me, a walk down memory lane! :D

I think I wore KEDS growing up in California in the 50's and 60's.
Now days it's generally NEW BALANCE.

If you dont mind shelling out an extra $20 you can custom order Chucks from the converse website in your choices of colors trim, even embroidery.

Can't go wrong with Chuck's for anything but exercise. I recently got a new pair of New Balances for running/lifting and some Adidas high tops for casual wear. The Adidas set me back almost 90, but they're pretty cool looking, and I end up buying new shoes every 1.5 years, so it's not that horrible.

Converse used to do a "design your own" thing on their website. Pretty reasonable too, I think $70-80. You could customize pretty much everything on the shoe.

I like Converse, but they're crap running shoes.

I've got a pair of the black and white hitops like the bottom pic, they look great with my jeans with holes in the knees and biker jacket.

I remember being a kid thinking that the new pair of sneakers I had just gotten could make me run faster. I was called out on this theory and forced to race the neighborhood kids. Being a fat kid sucked! :(

There must be something nonthreatening about me as I'm stuffing greenbeans into a produce bag.
