I hadn’t had a bass amp around in a couple years. No bass gigs, all guitar, so I really didn’t have a need for one. But now some bass gigs are on the horizon for next spring and summer, and possibly maybe even some more road stuff. The cabs are late 90’s SWR. A “Goliath III” series 2x10 and a “Son of Bertha” 1x15. They’re old, and they are not light weight in the least. But they’re in great shape, and they sound amazing. I bought them from a buddy who took really good care of them. Got the pair for $400. The head is a Markbass Marcus Miller 500. I’ve been looking pretty hard at this head, and when GC ran them for $150 off this week I pulled the trigger. The thing is ridiculous. The brown truck dropped it off today, and ten minutes later I had it hooked up. Maybe it’s underrated in the wattage department, or maybe these speakers are more efficient than I’m used to. I barely cracked it open at all and stuff started falling off the walls upstairs. I’m thinking one cab is gonna be plenty for 99% of my gigs. What a beast! And yes, I have a hand truck.
