One TGP review:

“I tried it at NAMM today with the Beyerdynamic 770 headphones and a Rastacasta guitar they had out (SSS pickups) and it sounded decent with headphones, but I would love to hear it through decent speakers eventually. The order of effects is static/could not be changed from what I could tell. I adjusted some amp gain and eq settings as well as fx mix settings and I found a decent tone. It sounded better than the Boss GT/GX stuff and a little better/on par vs Helix depending on the amp. I still preferred my Kemper with headphones over this. They had alot of your standard presets (VH, ACDC, Nirvana, The Police, Metallica, Boston, Def Leppard) and it was relatively easy to figure out how to use with no manual present.

Price they said was going to be around 499 released around the middle of the year. I definitely think it could be a good entry into modeling and especially great for someone playing alot of cover tunes. I believe they mentioned a control app as well, but don't quote me on that.”

I'd bet it's got Neunaber stuff under the hood. That's much more the Neunaber kind of gear and there are visual cues.

If so, I bet it sounds and feels fantastic.
The guy who posted that short review did say on follow up that the effects were of that quality, so seems like everyone is assuming that is the case, which would be great.

Like others, I was really just hoping Quilter would update their analog Superblocks to include a high-quality (digital) reverb and tremolo, because I think everything else about them is pretty much perfect.

In a way I would be sad if they are moving towards digital amp modeling, and if so hopefully just in addition to their analog stuff.

I think part of Quilter's reputation is in analog, so it wouldn't surprise me if after absorbing Neunaber they keep the domains separate.

Very interesting post from another forum:

"Hi All, Chris from Quilter Labs chiming in.
Just a couple of points to clarify, the "buttons" are not contact buttons.
They are capacitive touch sensing which prevents them from being damaged or wearing out over time.
The idea in its simplest sense is that there is a main knob for entry, and a selector for each parameter.
The displays (screens) are not a part of the product. But that said, it will launch with a browser based app (nothing to install) which will allow a user to edit their presets in real time from a Google Chrome Browser.
The unit is not meant to be a profiler or modeler. If anything, we sort of think of it as the anti-modeler. (But I will stop there so as to not become an advertisement, as I want to respect the forum.)
Happy to answer questions, and I am okay with opinions. I suppose we leave a lot of questions when we do a "sneak peek" at NAMM."

That's twice I got hoodwinked and my reply showed up before I did. ;) Here to answer any questions and help if I can.
Hi Chris,

Thanks so much for showing up on the forums to answer questions! I'm a big Quilter fan and on my second amp of yours at the moment. My main question about the Elevate is whether the amp sounds are going to be analog as on the rest of your products. You said it is not going to be modeling or profiling, so does that mean the amps are not digital?

Thanks again!

If the success of amps like the Blackstar Debut 50 are any indication, I'm sure they would keep the analog stuff. I hope I'm not being too optimistic.

Uh oh! Long answer. (But I will try to simplify)
No, this is a different direction.
Brian Neunaber of Neunaber technology joined our team a couple years ago. He has been working on this for about two years, and it is digital, but definitely not modeling. (We like to call it the Anti-Modeler.)
That said, Pat Quilter is trucking away on new products all the time which are still quite analog.
The Elevate will be digital, and is basically a different team here at Quilter Labs.

I had one that was better covered in a private message, but your profile doesn't allow for that. Drop me a line if you're interested.

This is what I was hoping for as well, because of how wonderfully I know that both brands can fill those niches. This Elevate thing though? It looks (to me) like something from the '80s that I'd find gathering dust at my local used music store, because I'm not sure what it even does at first glance, and by my initial inspection, it looks like I'll have to do some menu diving on a low-rez LCD screen.

Now, if you look at my Toneblock, you can tell pretty quickly that it's a 200 watt guitar head with reverb, and that it will be more fun to carry than my tube amps. It's got knobs for all the amp things. I do not need to worry about browser compatibility in order to operate it. Sold.

It looks like it has digital amp and cab effects, so I'm really curious what distinguishes it from modeling.
