After I fired the springer once (a couple of years ago), I went back to the Daisy pump until this weekend.
Ah, the pump-ups. Fond memories of the Daisy Powerline. Safe limit, 10 pumps. But things got good at around 15. Especially if you put a drop of 3-in-1 in the skirt of the pellet.

Would a Red Rider range BB gun do the trick?

BBs are nowhere as accurate as pellets fired from a rifled barrel. When dispatching critters like this, one must be responsible and do so in a humane manner. A fast one-shot kill is humane. Making an animal suffer from a peripheral shot/multiple shots is irresponsible and cruel.

The things you see on most break-barrel pellet pistols and rifles is not a suppressor. It's a barrel extension that adds leverage to make the swing to kok the thing a lot easier.

I have an RWS Diana and it is a killer-diller against cottontails and squirrels that decimate the garden. Good trigger. It easily shoots nickel-size groups offhand at 20 yards.

The Trevox is advertised as having a "3 chamber SilencAir baffle system to keep your shots quiet". The trigger pull is long and heavy like DA, which is weird because it is already cocked . . . might be a safety feature. I definitely wouldn't want to shoot the pellet gun a lot before going to the range.

Break barrel and "springer" rifles are not your father's air guns. I have a springer rifle, with a silencer, and I can't use it in the back yard because it sounds like a .22.
Yep, my Gamo break barrel would bring the Cops for sure, I got a old Crossman for the yard.

The squirrels here just run up a tree and then taunt the dogs. Thy just trash talk them and wait for them to go away.

For those who want a quiet and powerful air rifle - look to PCP (Pre-charged pneumatic) air guns. Good ones are not inexpensive, but they sure are fine!

BRK Ghost in .22 cal. w/10-shot rotary mag and suppressor. (No permit required for suppressors on air rifles.)

It's not "pre-charged pneumatic"?

That would be cool, but does she have a "squirrel only" mode?

Pretty much, she gets more meat off a squirrel compared to anything else. She very rarely kills a bird. She grew up feral so she figured out squirrel hunting well before she adopted us. We have way too many squirrels around here anyway.
