Again with the tea towel!

I’m but a simple United Statesian and have no means of understanding the relationship of the English to their tea towels.

Nice work, btw. Like the light rendering on the limes & lemons. Or is it lemons & limes? I think the Canadians have a protocol for that.

Wouldn't want to offend the citrus protocols!

Didn't the Citrus Protocols record vinyl in the late 60's? If they didn't, someone should have recorded under that name wayback.

I like it. I had written out some criticism about diverging colours between the background, the towel and the fruit, then I realized that my nighttime colour filter was on my screen. Oops. Made a big difference. The vivid citrus of the fruit looked odd next to the pastal background and table through the filter. In proper colour the towel softens the distinctions. FWIW, I really liked how the three towels on the last one accomplished that task. Worked great imo. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy these posts.

Possibly the best band name ever. And my art would provide endless album covers.

Man, think how much more successful bands like the Beatles and the Stones could have been with a name as good as the Citrus Protocols.

I like it, but I got my cranky pants on. It's a bit "square on" and the big old drawer reinforces that. The drawer distracts from the fruit. It's two paintings stuck together.

Am I being too picky? I can't draw a stick man.
Yes, it is! But I thought I'd give it a try anyway.

I think it's one where a great source photo has transferred into a good but "interesting" painting, but not really in the way I'd expected it too.

I get criticism about breaking the "rules" of still life painting quite a lot. But I'm fine with breaking the rules and with the criticism. I like to try things.

And I'm looking forward to the epitaph:

"Here lies Grant. He occasionally played fast and loose with the conventions of still life painting."

And people will look down at my grave and gasp: "Wow, what a guy."

. . . . it's early.

By the way I found this book by David Hockney interesting:
