New painting: Boy on the grass

    Yet another picture of my much-portraited son. This time based on a photo I took last summer. He has now grown out of those socks . . . and has new, even stripier ones.

    That's wonderful - I love that twisty pose only gawky kids can tie themselves into! It captures so well that carefree childhood I almost remember having (rose-tinted specs on).

    And yes, he is seriously gangly, while I can just about tie my shoes.

    ... and the low viewpoint is also part of the appeal - you tend to be relate more to a subject when you get down to their level.
    So many child photos could have been improved by this simple technique :eek:)
