Long time creeper here. Got this guitar for my 16th birthday years ago. Have played it sporadically since, got stuck on semi hollows and old Japanese stuff for a while- but decided to really give this thing a makeover. New GFS pickups (Dream 90 in the bridge and “gold foil” single in the neck) and wiring harness. Pretty good for the price. Always loved the neck on this thing. Plays like a dream, and sounds better than the stock HB’s. She’s a bit beat up, but really brings back a lot of memories.

I had one of those for awhile. Terrific neck, but the HBs were pretty mediocre. I sold it, looking for the P90 version... but I got sidetracked onto Jazzmasters. Still might get one though.

Those ‘gold foil’ Strat pickups are great. I don’t have experience with the dream 90, but I got a mean 90 and one of those same goldies in my Tele.

I feel ya. The stock HBs are pretty underwhelming. The quality of these neck is really surprising, I really abused this thing as a teenage nightmare and it still holds up against MIM teles I’ve played. Good looks on a Jazzmaster though. Such a versatile guitar. Favorite vibrato system by far.

Yeah I’m pretty surprised how good it sounds, this was my first foray into GFS pickups and I was a little hesitant. Not ear piercingly treble forward and sounds fantastic thru a clean signal. Ripped thru some country style licks with it and it sounded great. I’ve read great things about the mean 90 and almost bought it. Glad to know it lives up to the hype. The dream 90 sounds amazing cranked through some fuzz. Pretty spot on p90 tone.
