He sounds suitably cranky on the vid I posted. The other song I’ve heard was more melodic.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

I saw the movie "Mountaintop" last week. Neil comes off as a bit cranky at times, but keep in mind that he directed the movie, so the way he comes off is exactly how he wanted to be seen. The drama does give a bit of an emotional flow to the movie that might have been lacking if they'd just played everything and it all worked out great.

That's like the greatest get-off-my-damn-lawn song ever. Neil Young is always amazing of course.

To me that just doesn't sound like Neil Young.
I prefer Harvest songs and Harvest Moon.JMHO

Because it is not just Neil Young its Neil Young and Crazy Horse!!

I've always felt like they were two very distinct artists

Here’s the other one I’ve heard, but a bunch more, maybe the whole album, is online.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

He's just lost the style, great melodies, etc to go with the words for me. So much sounds like a funeral now. Sorry, former Neil probably in my top 5 of all time, but no, not lately. And the live performances I've seen on TV look like a bunch of metalheads jamming who have never met before....
Sorry to be so harsh, but it's so disappointing ...

Watching the movie the other thing that seems pretty obvious is that Neil is no longer young, nor anybody in his band.

I love the man's music but my last album of his was Harvest Moon.
Neil is going to Neil and his creativity isn't confined by anyone else boundaries. More power to him.
I love his rockers all the way back to Buffalo Springfield and I love his mellow, introspective stuff as well.
I remember going through a tough stretch when I was young and thought "Out on the Weekend" was my personal story.
