I'm really into old school Blues. Jontavious Willis, Eric Freeman & Lamont Jack Pearley (aka "Jack Dappa") give me great hope for the present & future of Blues

Alt-J are doing it for me. Seems like a new direction, for me anyway. Some great hooks and parts, harmonies, a style all of their own. Serious talent.

One single performer: Marty Stuart. He still puts out traditional country CDs even if he may not be the hit-maker he once was at the height of his popularity in the 1990s with "Tempted" (which has come to be one of my favorite songs of his MCA years - plus, the man is just a damn good storyteller!! His words just grab you and put you rightthereinthestory with him - and every time he does it, he blows my mind.

BTW, did anyone recently read where Marty was given an honorary high school diploma?? Yep, even though he's got tons of awards and Grammys, the one thing that was most important to him was a high school diploma and - when he attempted to study on the bus while he was working with Lester Flatt's band, the guys were of no help as far as his homework so he self-taught himself.

I agree. I have stumbled across them too. They definitely have some cool grooves. I dig the hell out of "Left Hand Free".

Two bands that are way high on my list of "new(er)" bands that I really like are...

    The Marcus King Band:

    and The Temperance Movement:
