Man, this keeps getting better. Kings X/Doug Pinnick and Bill Frisell mentioned on the same page. Two of my top faves. I need to catch up on what those guys have been up to the last few years.

That is something else. The fretless bass playing by itself puts my ears on a new frequency.

It's never been easier to find great music . . . and yet somehow I always seem to be the last one to find it:

Another one that's not new, but is new to me. Heard it played on the local community radio station kinda recently, and dug it enough to come home and look it up:

Stumbled onto this awhile back while goofing around on Youtube. This band, Pinn Pannelle, calls themselves--among other things--"rocktronica." I am highly unknowledgeable about all things musical electronica and the stuff these guys are doing here is totally counterintuitive to me, and the sounds are often bizarre-seeming...but I can tell they are triggering the sounds with real instruments, and with a lot of skill and technical know-how. And what really makes it work for me is that their drummer is a friggin monster. It's like Stewart Copeland v. 2.0 back there. Check 'em out...some kind of proximity sensor things and bluetooth keypads on their axes to control some kind of sound parameters...it's wild.

Being a rabid live music junkie canned music is only so good. We need to get out and support local and especially traveling musicians. God bless the tapers too as live music lives on through their labor of love.
Finally when asked what is the best show I've seen I reply the next show I see!

Here's another one that I like that deserves far more publicity than it's getting.

Karissa Hobbs is a talented singer songwriter from Arkansas, and an absolute angel of a human being. Her guitarist/producer Jacob Paul is a gifted young man with a very old soul.

    Hear for yourself.
