I prefer this model to a lot of other Fenders so I agree with your re-evalution about not putting the neck on the HWY1. I've tried dozens of HWY1s and not found any as good as my MIM Classic 50s or Esquire. The colour scheme on yours is bang on the money... be a shame to waste it. Enjoy

Its the 1st one on this list TMNF the V neck is also real nice its a soft v cant feel it too much that one is just like the 50's style MIJ's. The Fat is close to 1" at the nut it is real large but comfy too.

My Highway One is a special guitar:

It's one of these. It's easily the best sounding Tele I've ever heard. I have come to dislike the neck, though. The modern C-shape, 9.5" radius and big frets just aren't doing it for me. My first thought was to buy a MIM 50's Classic neck from one of the ebay guitar breakers, but I thought I would do better to buy this 50's classic for two reasons. First, I've played it, so I know the neck is what I want, second, if I part the rest out, it will be cheaper than paying $250 + for a neck from ebay.

cotecj, here's mine with a blackguard...

i can't decide if it's staying. it looks good either way to me...

don't split it up. save your pennies and buy an aftermarket neck for your hwy 1 if you really don't like it. the 50's classic is the total package, IMHO.

The color is just right on that cotecj and I would keep at least the neck and body together.

    Congrats!

    Mine's on the way!

I love the blackguard look - definitely leave it like that. Awesome.

Nice! I've tried the blackguard look on mine too...and while both are nice, I seem to always come back to this...

congrats on an excellent guitar. i, too, have one but i put a tortoise guard on it. the black is too common and i couldn't take the white. besides the single ply guards curl roo much for me

Allparts has a parchment 5 hole single ply pickguard, both in Tele and in Esquire.

It is more yellow-ivory than the Callaham; it will look great on many guitars where the white can't cut it, like on many sunburst guitars.

Depending on which shade of trans-white one's 50's has, I tend to like the stock white the best.

But the Callahams fit perfectly, while the Allparts...well they need a little work.

At least the ones I tried.

    Congrats.
I had a black guard on mine:

But now I like the white one best:
