Hey all -- longtime lurker, first-time poster. As of today, I've started the ball rolling on a T-style build with Ron Kirn as a 50th birthday gift to myself. I will post updates/pics as they come. Just wanted to say an official "hey" to all the players here, and also to thank you for helping me decide on this purchase. Rock on, people! Chris

Anybody know why Ron Kirn on eBay was stating the fact that HE was the owner of the Fender body shapes? ( not the necks of course)
His template manufacturer, by his family member Pierre (I think) made a bunch of claims about being the Verified Rights Owner of the Fender body shapes.
Does anyone else have that info?

Ron posts here regularly, he’ll probably see this thread and answer that question himself. To the best of my recollection, though, Fender didn’t protect the trademark on their body shapes and they are now essentially public domain. Their headstock shapes are still protected.

Thanks, gang! Put down the deposit and finalizing the specs. It'll be Steinway Black urethane T style (no body cuts) with a vintage tint nitro birdseye maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, abalone dots, tortoiseshell pickguard, Seth Lover humbucker at the neck and a Jerry Donahue at the bridge, Bill Lawrence 5-way switch, 6 saddle Gotoh chrome bridge. Neck will be close to an american elite profile: 9.5 to 12" compound radius, 1 11/16ths, .83 1st fret .93 at the 12th fret, set up for 10-46 with a wound g. I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty awesome. It's a 50th birthday present to myself. Not the sort of thing I do every day!

You’ll love it. I traded away my Barnbuster in a moment of weakness and have regretted it since.
