Finally got a new set of nut files and addressed a few problems with the bridge saddles and nut slots today on my Heritage Blues Deluxe. The guitar wouldn't hold it's tuning and have some strange sitar over-tones going on. A quick touch up on the saddles with the files, and the buzzing is gone. Then I re-shaped the slots on the nut so the angle was steeper towards the tuners. This relieve a fair amount of friction from the bottom of the nut slots and a little oil in each slot finished the job. I put new pickups in it last year, a SD Custom V and a '59. It actually sounds like a Rickebacker now, but I haven't has a good chance to put it through the paces yet. One of the perils of owning 24 guitars. Going out to give a good spankin' tonight at a very popular open mic. String are stretched and she's ready to rock!
