    Maybe it sells

Then next month we see it again with a "I have not been able to verify this, but the previous owner said this guitar was actually broken by Pete Townshend"...

"smashed in a fit of rage"

I hope who ever is the top bidder gets the payment to this guy fast before he smashes again.

Which category does this fall under? Is this "There's a sucker born every minute" or that one about a fool and his money?

As for me, I'm waiting for the Squire that was used to record "Exile On Main Street" (and signed by all of The Rolling Stones) to comes back up for auction.

610$ worth of parts? Really? Maybe the parts make a cheap model change over into something pricey. I know nothing about Rics.

Yeah, I'm gonna enter into a buy/sell arrangement with a guy whose emotional stability is obviously questionable.

The Model 1998PT was a limited run of 250 and it has a collector value of $3000 or more. Pick of the Ricks sold one not too long ago for $4250.

The problem is that someone with a regular Model 1998 in Fireglo could buy this, switch the jackplate (where the serial number is on a Rick) and nameplate (the top section of the pickguard -- you can see it laying there separately) and have their $1000 guitar suddenly worth $3000-plus. So unfortunately it's worth $600 to someone with crooked intentions.

that is a shameful thing to do to a guitar. an accident is one thing, but a "fit of rage" is another.
someone needs to smack that guy. (you know... one of those painless little insulting smacks on the back of the head...)
