Ok. Some of y’all may remember about a month ago I got a new to me LTD Viper 400. I’m not sure why but I can’t stand the knobs on it.

I’m more of a Strat and Tele player now. But this guitar slingshot me back into my “roots” when I started playing. Bands like Coheed and Cambria, Hawthorne Heights, Saosin, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday. (Y’all get the idea. Kind of the early days of “post-hardcore) reminded me how fun it is to play.

Anyway. I want new knobs. Just not meshing with the barrels. Have a couple ideas. Wanted to get second opinions (and 3rd and 4th and so on lol) I kinda like the silver top ones.

Oxblood chicken heads on that white, Oh My God. Being that cool will be a burden. Brace up. Do it.

Haha. I actually have a set of black chicken heads I threw on to try. And didn’t really care for it. And with the black hardware I think the white/black/silver knobs would tie it all together. Especially with neck pup. Bought it used. Usually mix match pups would bother me. But I like the pickups and sound great together. So decided to leave it

I vote for any Gibson style knob, preferably reflectors, the silver topped ones.

IDK, not a fan of black on white, but black reflectors would match the pickup surrounds and liven it up a lot.

If that was mine I'd go gold reflectors and non black pickup surrounds.

That guitar is pleasingly Phil X. I bet that rocks, with any knobs (or, hell, no knobs).

I’m seeing clear speed knobs on it:

I feel I should inform you that I can provide a loving forever home to unwanted Black barrel knobs, here in sunny, hot, humid rural Missouri. PM me to discuss my exciting array of knob re-homing incentives.

Hard to beat speed knobs for comfort and ease of use. They seem to be available in almost any color~

I love a good, cheap, simple non-invasive mod.
I like speed barrel knobs on Gibson types.
My favorites are the extra tall ones unique to very early 50s (1950-1953) Les Pauls.
Set scrrew dome top early 50s Tele knobs are cool, too.
Recent peartl top setbscrew knobs and Fender amp “cupcake” knobs are nice, small and lightweight.
I change knobs on almost all my stuff.
    Perhaps ironically, I dislike potentiometers.
I barely/rarely use em’ as I think any reduction form “full on/up” results in a crappier tone.
    I digress.
Sometimes I remove potentiometers from the circuit, but leave them in place to corner the hole.
    Izzat weird?
    OK.

Dome top Tele knobs make any guitar look better. Besides my teles, I have them on a gold top LP and a 3-tone burst Strat.

I like top hats on Gibsonny gits and have trouble with the fatter Gibson barrels.
Can't stand chicken heads on guitars because I like to roll volume with my pinkie.

Remember to buy the correct spline for your pots!
I'd guess those are metric import pots?
I just bought a set of amber top hats in import spline for my semi hollow that has perfectly good black speed knobs that are just too fat for my expectation of volume change to pinkie movement.

    Ha, ha. Yeah, that's WEIRD!
I was with you all the way until you indicated no volume knob.
    I couldn't deal without that. :)
Treble bleed on the pot is a necessity for me though.

I wonder how it would look with a matching poker chip? Either clear speed knobs/the white and silver reflector Gibson style. With a white poker chip. Or the black and silver Gibson style knobs with a black poker chip. Curious how that would look lol
