Well I did it, I pulled the trigger and ordered a new Kirn Strat. Now I have to anxiously wait for him to build it and ship it. He said it will come with 2 1/2 qts of mojo, I don't think that will be enough to make it sound as good as it will look, unless someone else plays it. I am definetly not worthy of this guitar or the Barnbuster Tele I have, but my wife and I both work hard and guitars are what I like and my wife doesn't mind letting me buy them. She is so great, I am going to have to by her something she deserves a nice gift.

(doesn't make me any less jealous though)

I love the way the luthier himself chips in with a comment....just one of the many cool things about the TDPRI. :)

I know Ron is a busy man so I doubt he'll be doing a thread especially since he has already done a strat build thread. Although it would be cool to see some pics of the process since it is my guitar.

    Here are the specs:

She'll be Swamp Ash with transparent burnt orange (Deep darker Amber) with Gold Gotoh Vintage Tremolo, black PG, all other Hardware will be black. Kirn custom wound Vintage pups and standard wiring with silent isolated ground. Neck will be medium jumbo frets, 9.5 radius, 50's chunky profile, maple fingerboard just like my 52 HR neck profile, and 2 1/2 quarts of Mojo...

I'd have him add an extra 1/2 qt just to be safe.

I'm thinking it's more him being educated while being "dragged along" on an expensive shopping trip with the Mrs.

That's pretty cool to see a pic of your guitar being made. Whatever pics Ron posts my wife is going to make a collage and hang it in my guitar room. Ron I don't think the fullerplast is a good idea. Fender will bring a lawsuit so fast for stealing one of their quality finishes it.isn't worth the headaches. Stick with the nitro.

Fullerplast, Full-o-plast, conversion varnish, is just the sealer.... it was used by Leo from the early 60's until the early 70's... ya put it on, sand it off, then shoot 'er with nitro for a week..

I know this is not entirely on topic but:

Where do you get the fullerplast stuff and why is it better than the McFadden stuff?

Also, does this eliminate the need to fill the grain?

I thought fullerplast was a poly type finish that fender used. I guess that is the new thing I learned today.
