New to me anyhow! ;) It's a 2016 VM 70's Squier that I saw online at Music go round of all places, it looked spotless in the pictures, UPS dropped it off today, it is nearly flawless.

I didn't really need a J Bass, but when these first came out a few years back I was drawn in by the look of the black inlays in the Maple board, the natural finish, and the skinny neck, I have small hands... :)

    ... and it was only $249... :) 0128202103.jpg 0128202103a.jpg

Is that the vintage modifed 70's bass?

If so I have the mirror image of it :)

I got mine shipped from MF to New Zealand. When it arrived it had really low output. Perfectly clear but like 30% of expected output.

I thought at the time, these pickups must suck so ordered some USA Jazz Pickups. When they arrived I found one of the pot wires was grounding out and fixing that made it sound great.

I did install the USA pickups but couldn't say whether they were any better or not...I suspect not but don't want to ruin my confirmation bias by openly saying so :)

Its a great bass, I hope you love yours like I do.

The J bass was a clever design by leo. Humbucking with both pickups on full, really distinctive sound from the bridge pickup. Doesn't have the midrange bar of the P bass, but its' got its own cool thing. On some of them the necks are crazy narrow at the nut. I was a p-bass guy for years and then became a j-bass guy. But I put a pbass pickup in it.

Leo was a very clever guy

Every one needs a Jazz bass, especially at that price. Looks very nice, I hope you bond with it.

    I'm primarilly a bass player.

    Good luck with it.

    Mike ;)
