Finally got around to picking it up. I'm a longtime fan and love the last Olsen Louris album. But this isn't very good. Disappointed.

Me too. The songwriting is very weak, even my wife commented about it.
Too bad, one of my fave bands.

It was almost like these songs were written in the studio. Even the harmonizing is aweful. Seems both were fighting for lead.

Heard them live on XM/Sirius - couldn't listen too long - harmonies were not good live..... Maybe no monitors live in studio?

I went to see them live a few weeks ago.
Had high expectations because of the Hollywood Town hall record.

Unfortunately, I have to agree on the songwriting remark. Just 'Take me with you' got stuck in my head, the rest was the kind of song that floats by but leaves no trace.

After the show, the first song that got played on the venue's sound system was Neil Young's 'Everybody knows this is nowhere'. It evaporated the entire Jayhawks set.
    Too bad really.

Gary Louris was doing so well without Mark Olson. Then he had to go ruin it.

I was really looking forward to this record and really tried to like it but it doesn't do much for me either.

Saw 'em live Saturday and they were great. Vocals were strong, harmonies on target.

Eric Heywood sat in on peddle steel for several numbers, which was a treat.

I'll admit I was a little cool on the new album after first picking it up, but it came at a time when I've been focusing on listening to heavier, more guitar driven stuff outside of their genre.

It has, however, been growing on me. If you were to stack their discography by sound instead of date, this would fit right between "Hollywood Town Hall" and "TTGG", even if the material isn't quite as strong. It's got a vibe similar to the Louris/Olson record from a couple of years back, but with the band backing them up.

FWIW, "Tiny Arrows" was killer live.

I'll admit that with the vocals really up their in the mix, plus the stage banter, my southern-fried ears thought I'd taken them to "Fargo: The Musical" a couple of times Saturday night.
