    Hi Just wanted to post a picture of my budget parts-caster hybrid. It's an Encore body, Burswood neck (with reshaped headstock) construction. I filled the trem-rout with a sapele off-cut and bit of skirting-board. It has an Artec Alinico V in the bridge position and a very heavily wax-potted 'vintage' Marlin pickup in the neck. The latter was going to be a temporary measure but it sounds great. A wood off-cut fills the center pickup hole and a sailor jerry rum bottle top stoppers the spare Pot hole. A friend did some fret-levelling and I refinished the neck with gun-stock wax. It has real 'twang' and I'm really pleased with it - it probably cost about £65:00 to put together.

    Looking good, does that volume knob give you any issues being so close to the bridge plate?
    I plant my fingers about there so would probably move the volume to the tone position by dropping the two knobs down one position.

    By the look of things you are a Scot living in Yorkshire, we would not expect anything other than "budget" from you.

    Welcome to TDPRI from a Yorkie in exile.

    I'm not that sophisticated a player that I touch the volume during a song :). You are right though, swapping the pots lower down would probably be a good move functionally.

    Thanks, cosmetically it's a bit rough around the edges (I partly wanted that) but functionally I'm very pleased with it.

    I'm actually a southerner (don't hold that against me), the 'nom de plume' is a nickname for being the Father of Angus (Yorkshire born). We do love where we live! The building thing is just like doing experiments to see if they work.

    After twenty years in the rhubarb triangle followed by forty in the South, I'm in no place to hold anything against you. when dad was still alive I was tempted by a number of gigs at the Picturedrome, but the timing never worked out.

    Gotta love a partscaster that you make to your own specs.

    My wife and I love the Picturedrome. Wilko is playing tonight but I'm sitting as she is going out. We have got tickets for Lucinda Williams in August.

    I saw Dr Feelgood a couple of times, and later Wilko's Solid Senders in Sheffield back in the 70's. Then again in France on his farewell tour. I put this together a few years before the signature guitar came out;

    Fantastic looking guitar. Wilko is quite a character, I've really enjoyed the docs on him and the Feelgoods. My guitar teacher when I was 18 was a big fan and I'm sure he's instilled a bit of Feelgoods style shuffle into my limited playing. I do use a pick, though.

    I like the looks of your guitar. If it makes good sounds and plays nicely-that is what it is all about. Welcome too.
