To me, what made the Harmony and Kay brands are the Dearmond pickups. The Danelectros are pretty sweet and affordable with many on the used market.

I'm still waiting for that perfectly accurate Sovereign 1260 reproduction. Until then, I have zero interest in Harmony guitars.

I always thought these Roy Smecks look interesting with the seal soundholes and airplane bridge.

    They haven't reissued them, I don't think.

    yup.

these new ones are probably decently made and all, but I can't get past the bad taste left by all the crappy ones I saw as a teen, back in the 70's. and what do these sell for, like 7 or 800, new? I can buy a really good strat or SG for that money!

Well, I have had the Silohuette since March and I really like it. It is very well made and plays/sounds great...

I just got a Jupiter on Friday and it's a great guitar - kind of lives in the netherworld between a Tele and a Gibson LP.

    I recorded this today:

I hear they’re bringing back mercurochrome for knee scrapes, too.

Clean tones are awesome - haven't had a chance to record a clean tone video, but a lot of other folks have done them (one of the reasons that I decided to do an overdrive tone video first).

I will try to do one this week, if I have free time.

Oh, and for folks wondering about the neck carve on the Jupiter, it's very similar to some Fender AVRI 50s Teles that I have owned.

Super comfy for me (I have big hands) - not too fat, not too thin - just right.

Thanks for the clean demo - sounds good!

    Build quality impressive to you?

    Worth the bucks?

Build quality is good - no real complaints except that it is mildly neck heavy - but not to the point that there is dive with a strap.

$1300 for a 7lbs, made in America guitar with ebony fretboard, mahogany neck and body, bone nut, nitro finish, comfortable C neck carve, custom wound gold foil pickups, and a nice, solid bridge seems like a good deal to me.

Is $1300 street price? Not out of line for high quality, USA manufacture, ebony, bone, nitro, etc. In the right ballpark. Gold foils seem to sound pretty good too! (Given the web-hosting medium.)

Sweetwater and others are charging $1299. You may be able to get it for less if you sweet-talk a salesperson. :)
