Yeah, don't get too hung up on the precision of that 8 weeks. I was on day 1 of 8 weeks about six months ago. Still counting....

Make no mistake about it, you will ultimately get a great guitar, it just will likely be many, many months from now. I’m on something like week 40 of a promised 14 week custom build. One day it will come.

I’m also waiting BUT I have no fear that it’s not worth the wait.

And this kind of “extended” waiting period is not unique to the boutique guitar world. My brother was telling me about the waiting he had to endure while he was waiting for his 70 year old Leica cameras to be restored by the premiere film camera expert. My bro got so frustrated that he wrote some strongly worded emails. When the camera came back working perfectly, he wrote the guy a warm thank you note. The guy responded “I was so angry at your initial impatience, that I vowed never to allow you to send me another camera. But since this last note was so nice, we’re good.”

I assume that Maserati repair men are similar.

    Holy...40 weeks!

Well I guess one thing is cured...my GAS for more guitars! Since I already bought/ordered my new tele I’m satisfied, but since I don’t have it I’m in this weird no guitar limbo. I can’t(don’t need to) look for more Teles because I have one on order.

I did catch myself looking at candy apple red strats last night...

I’m glad Chihoe and Jim got together to make this guitar. It’s just crazy to get a handmade guitar at this price point.

The model c is probably to coolest looking tele I have ever seen! That pickguard design looks so good! The finish looks perfectly worn in, and that maple neck...o_O:D

If any model c owners wanna make guitarporn videos...I mean demo videos I’d like that very much! :p

I just checked, I ordered mine on January 24. So it’s exactly FIVE months. For many products, I think that you’d be right. If a company tells you “x weeks,” it shouldn’t go beyond that. If it does they should communicate well and show contrition.

That said, in the boutique guitar world, I believe that this is kind of standard. And I believe that part of what drives this culture is the idea that ‘you are getting something really special, really kind of unique’ and that you must factor in that you are dealing with an artistic soul.

So I myself am getting antsy, but I’m confident that the wait will be worth it. But I understand your feeling.

o_OLol, I’m not even on week 2 and I’m antsy. Worse part is I’m lusting after the model 112 now!

There is this zombie consumer side of me that just wants to gobble up shiny guitar things. Then there is my artist side that says, “hey you wanna get better? Go practice for the next three months and we’ll see what you come up with.”

I feel like Hahn guitars are something I’ll grow with and have for a very long time. I don’t plan on ever buying another telecaster after the model c...o_O

I would go surf green or seafoam green, but that metal pickguard looks amazing! If I ever ordered a 112 I would ask Chihoe if I could redesign the pickguard style to look more like a Model C.

That Model C so good in every wayo_O If you look at it long enough and go look at a regular telecaster. The telecaster pickguard will look enormous!

I think Hahn and Ron Kirn have the best non-Fender headstock designs. I can't wait to get my Model C and play it until the maple board gets brown from my dirty fingers!

Ordered mine 4/11/18....looks like it will be a LONG time...only thing I don't like is my card was charged on 4/11...normally when you order something, card is not charged until item is shipped, and from what I'm reading here, I'm expecting this will take around a year...I'll stop holding my breath now!

I'm pretty disappointed with this experience with Chihoe. I placed my order 4/2 and I was told "6 to 8 weeks, but closer to 6". I expected to have it in my hands by my 50th birthday, June 5h, as a present to myself. I've emailed Chihoe twice in the past 3 weeks to ask for an update and both emails were ignored. I understand the boutique mystique and the challenge of producing a "custom" guitar at commercial prices, but this is just bad business practice. You don't take $1,500 from a customer and then give them a delivery timeline you can't meet, and then refuse to communicate. I will likely be requesting a refund tomorrow.

I think this thread is becoming a Hahn buyer support group. Welp, here is something I saw that might interest the waiters.

He mumbles something about two years...:p:eek::lol::cry::cry::cry:

I ordered a custom build the first of August last year (2017) to be ready by my 65th birthday November, 2018. Was told 14 weeks but I knew it would be more hence my long lead time to allow for his good intentions (and they are good). Also no replies to emails. This is my second try at a build, I gave up on the first (for my 60th birthday) after over a year waiting. I'll stick this one out. Maybe it will arrive for my 70th birthday.

Ok. But we are not talking about an archtop guitar. And If the seller says 6-8 weeks, I don't think it's serious to take 6 months or even more. If I knew the situation, I would not buy this guitar because a neeeded a Tele for the summer gigs. More. I tried many times to contact him by the phone: no answer. I tried to contact him by email: no answer. Sorry for my poor english.

It's either a Fender Telecaster, or it's a copy. Ugly headstock, wannabe.

I would NEVER play a copy, no matter how good it is.

    That's just me. I'm a purist.

Something I learned from my time as a reporter- call people and don't stop calling until you get an honest answer out of them.

Random observation: nearly ever thread about boutique or bespoke guitar makers eventually turns into "where the hell is my guitar?!?!" I think it's just a thing.

Something to remember about Chihoe; he's making all of these guitars himself and the Model C barely pays for itself. It's the other guitars that are his main business and where he makes enough money to keep Hahn Guitars a viable business. Originally, he was going to make two Model C guitars a month, so if he's got a zillion orders for it, it's not going to be speedy.

I think he may have raised expectations too high by doing a run of 24 right off the bat. That's just unsustainable over the long term.
