We had a company catered lunch today.

The options were spread out wide across several tables in groups marked "sandwiches" "sammiches" "sangwitches" "sammies" "sangies" etc.

    The sandwiches were gone first.

Oddly, they all looked the same to me.

I worked at a plastic factory were the machines ran full time 24 hours a day the machines would spit out bottles and such and fall into boxes where I would collect it and stack each bottle on to trays on pallets or take it out of the first box and arrange them nicely in another box
I didn’t get to have a lunch for about 3 months till I got fast enough to keep up with the amount the machine would back up in that time

The only way you could get a break was if you were fast enough to catch up when you got back

If we went by the law of 15 minutes of break time every 4 hours there would be a mountain of plastic waiting for you when you got back

I don’t think the management really cared about labor laws

I’m not just being a crybaby about it either I was there for a while most people wouldn’t last more than a couple days to a week
The turnaround of employees was crazy

Oh and we’d have to run around between at least two machines sometimes three with them being at various places around the factory

That’s just what I think about sometimes when I hear about lunch at work

The guy who does the cooking is allergic to everything, gluten free, can't eat pasta or bread, so he usually has to fix himself something different...

    Pan fried burgers are awesome!

My wife is a pescatarian. My son and I picked up some KFC. When we got home, my wife had at least a bottle of wine in her. She dug into my chicken when I wasn't looking.

I worked for a place that provided all you can consume, four food groups 24/7.

    Custom ground roast coffee
    Coca-cola
    M&Ms
    Chocolate chip cookies.

Yup, very high energy Silicon Valley company.:lol:

We must have different standards because I don't consider a 'pan fried hamburger' a win. :)

Would you rather they ate their fill of cabbage and beans?

C'mon man. That's their way of trying to tell us, they can't really "eat in public" because well, digestion is a problem.

Lunch is often the highlight of my day. I get away from my phone and email and get to have a nice conversation with my longtime business partner or other friends. I have lots of food alternatives.

I would be happy on the sole fact that the company supplies lunch. That’s a major savings to the pocketbook throughout a year, a comparable perk up there with a company car. Or is that just so they don’t need you leaving your post?

I typically brown bag it to save money, but I almost never pass up a free lunch.

In my place most people are dead scared of thinking for themselves. Oh, hold on, it's not just my employer, it's the whole country...
