What is with that? I mean people say wow!. Great guitar, great deal. But many of them I roll my eyes. I'd like to say, to bad you didn't do this or that. But, I politely stay out. I like to ask how much does it weigh, if they say its an 8lb 8oz Strat it makes me snarky and want to ask, hey, are you a weight lifter? But you can't. You get folks bragging about their nauseous finish on their 10 top PRS $7500 guitar that they can't play cause it will devalue it. And everyone loves it. Oh well, it is just one of the things that make it interesting around here. OK discuss.

I love great gear, and I love reading about others who found something they're proud of! I like coming here and sharing my finds with others, and love encouraging people to have what they like too!

Its been several months since my latest NGD post, but I'm as happy with this Player Strat as I was the day I bought it:

I Feel like shouting from the rooftop if I get a new guitar that I like and enjoy seeing others purchases they are happy about. So I like all of these posts. If I like the guitar too, then I will comment as such. If I am just happy for them, then I’ll give a thumbs up and enjoy just seeing what is out there.

I would not click on the NGD posts though if I did not like those.

To be honest I have not seen any PRS posts here where the guitar was not a player. I think most people here are focused on playability and reliability. Many have a PRS but I can’t recall anyone bragging about how expensive it was.

NGD posts are a chance for members to share their guitars with the rest of us.

I enjoy looking at other's gear and hearing about them. It's one of the reasons I joined the forum.

One of my pet peeves is when someone feels the need to dump on or be negative in a NGD thread. If you don't like it move on, no need to make someone else feel bad about or try and defend their latest purchase.

I try to be as supportive as possible because when I show my guitars on here, I get comments like
“well, hey, maybe better luck next time..”
and
“Please tell me you had it insured at least?”
and my favorite
“Say buddy, you got gotta dry place to stay, Have you eaten lately, Heres a twenty, its all I got, wait, lemme ask the wife,… Honey! Honey! Do you have any cash on ya?… “

When I get a new piece of gear my partner just rolls her eyes. She likes Gretsches, but other than that she's really not interested. But I get so excited and want to share my new find with someone, so I do that here. I've seen the occasional backhanded compliment, but most of the time people are excited to see new stuff. It makes people happy.

I see you have been a member for almost 20 years... I can imagine the NGD posts can get tiresome after all that time!

I usually try to ignore the just-bought-a-guitfiddle posts, would prefer people posted more of their own music. But for some reason Twanger Central seems to have far less traffic than Buyer Central. New year's resolution: spend more time on Twanger Central, less time watching people spend their money. Rock on.

Also every guitar is worth less than you pay for it no matter who makes it. PRS or otherwise.

That could be. But I've heard a big-money guy make the opposite claim. He says (paraphrasing) "Nobody pays $200,000 for a house because they think its worth that. They pay $200,000 for a house because they think its worth more than that." I would wager that most of us, at least subconsiously, are the same way about the gear we buy.
