New Gibson G-45......it’s a $999 J-45. Made in the USA by the J-45 builders.

I've played a number of walnut backed guitars, it really depends on which species of walnut gibson is using here-black walnut isn't as pretty, but sounds deeper, nearly as deep as rosewood, while claro walnut is prettier to look at, but sounds more like mahogany. I personally prefer black walnut... that said, I'm impressed with this one! Must... avoid... buy... button...

That expression has always puzzled me. What makes a guitar a song writer's guitar? Isn't a song writer's guitar just a guitar that belongs to a song writer?

    =O.

I think it devoleped that nickname over many years of famous troubadours playing them.

Woody Guthrie, Lucinda Willians, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Springsteen and so many more. This is Gibson’s D28. There’s a lot of history behind it.

I think that’s where the nickname came from. Yes any guitar that belongs to a songwriter is a songwriter’s guitar. I can’t deny that.

    Serious GAS!

    I don't need another acoustic (have 4), but I have wanted a J-45 for a long time.

Got an Epi AJ45ME Masterbilt, just to scratch the itch. Play open mics with it and like it a lot.

The problem would be that I don't want to bring a really nice guitar to a cramped bar. So, the AJ45ME is great....but would love a G-45. But.....might not ever let it leave the house...so...hard to justify. UG.

I picked up one of these a few weeks ago at the local GC--it was just under $900 with a coupon. Great guitar, especially at that price.

Just saw that AMS has two of these marked "minor blemish" reduced to $850 -- good deal.

Jason Isbell, John Prine, Seth Avett, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Sturgil Simpson, Eric Clapton, Hank Williams, oh, and this guy named Neil Young. They all play Martins and are pretty famous for writing songs.
