So basically the Ultra II with more classic aesthetics?

Neat idea; I was down to an AmProII and UltraII earlier this year and bowed out of the ultras partly because of how terrible the finishes available on rosewood neck teles are.

Gives a sense of the price point, about $2727.30 USD (the above is Australian)

There's a thread on Strat-Talk; one of the posters played the Strats at a local dealer in Texas last week (he didn't out the dealer that had them on the floor) and he said the hang tag prices ranged from $2,849 to $2,999 depending on body wood, SSS vs. HSS, etc. He didn't play or price the Tele models.

It’s amazing how different people’s tastes can be. Forearm contour is essential to me. Why be less comfortable than necessary?
I wouldn’t call it essential, but it almost had me buy an ultra II earlier this year. I will say the back contour or belly cut is a dealbreaker. I won’t buy a tele without one.

I think some people are just set in their ways. What confuses me is the blowback against contours. Like, are there really not enough options out there for slab Teles in 3TS? Obviously nobody has to purchase any guitar they don’t like. But the way some people talk, you’d think they were afraid of the guitar police raiding their gear room and snatching up all the traditional Teles and leaving electric green Floyd rose tele deluxes with heel contours and SD Invaders in their place.

Fender milks the “good ol days” cows pretty heavily. It’s hard for me to imagine a vintage guitar that hasn’t been channeled in spirit several times over the life of the brand.

Some of these look interesting to me: I despise the sound of Fender’s Noiseless pickups but I do like many of the modern features. There has been talk of these guitars being relic or light relic (“roadworn”) and that would be a dealbreaker for me. I realize a lot of people like the relic thing but I hate it with the intensity of 1000 burning suns.

Far far away
Differences to the regular Ultra 2 include a nitrocellulose finish with lacquer checking versus a polyurethane; clay dots on the Utra 2 Vintage; Pure Vintage pickups versus noiseless pickups. The Ultra Luxe Vintage has stainless steel frets whereas the regular Ultra 2 does not. Both have quartersawn 10-14" radius necks.

The difference in price is not surprising at all.
